Maria Vraka Music Academy

Inspiring musical excellence and passion in every student

In 2024, Lily was appointed Director of the Maria Vraka Music Academy, where she also teaches. Since taking on the role, she has created over five new group music classes, expanded the Academy’s instrumental offerings, and overseen a significant growth in student numbers—nearly doubling the size of the school. This rapid development has led to her latest venture: the opening of a new branch of the Academy.

Her group programmes range from early-years music education to her own specialised musicianship classes, designed to give children a space to explore, experiment, and engage with aspects of music-making not typically covered in one-to-one lessons. These classes aim to unlock each child’s creativity and nurture future young artists.

The Academy’s expansion also inspired the founding of the Maria Vraka Foundation in September 2025, of which Lily is a co-founder and trustee. The foundation’s mission is to make music education accessible to all and to support young artists at the beginning of their careers—offering free teacher training, scholarships, and opportunities for creative project development. Its first initiative, the Winch Choir (a collaboration with The Winch charity in Camden), recently secured funding to provide a free children’s choir, bringing together students from the Academy and The Winch and offering performances in unconventional spaces designed to inspire young people.

Lily teaches students of all ages, from early-years beginners to adults, and has a particular specialism in early-years education through the Musigenius Method, a teaching approach exclusive to the Academy and created by Maria Vraka.
